Program/Service Notes

1. Crisis Hotline Service (Youth needing help or in trouble, 24 hour, Therapist on duty, 217-446-1300) 2. General Clinical Services: Individual and family counseling for children, adolescents and families experiencing emotional and behavioral problems. * Parent-child conflicts * Emotional problems * Behavioral difficulties * School problems * Social problems * Depression/suicidal concerns * Stress/worry/nervous habits * Eating problems * Changes in the family: separation, divorce, remarriage, abandonment or death * Hyperactivity/attention deficits * Bed wetting * Sexual abuse * Trouble with the law * Running away 3. Intensive Intervention Program (Intensive Outpatient, Counseling Services, Family Therapy, Outreach services, Therapeutic Advocacy, Psychological testing Psychiatric evaluations. 4. Child Abuse/Neglect Treatment Program (Group and individual counseling, some Psychological testing, Parent education class, C.O.P.E. combination counseling, Parent education and Remedial Day Care for dysfunctional families) 5. Sexual Abuse Treatment Program 'SAP' (Assessment, Family, Group, And Individual Counseling, some Psychological testing) 6. Comprehensive Youth Services CYS Program (Intensive Outreach, Crisis Counseling, Advocacy, Short term foster care) 7. DCFS - SASS - DMH (Department of Children & Family Services, Screening, Assessment & Support Services, Department of Mental Health, psychiatric hospitalization, support services if child remains in community) 8. Unified Delinquency Intervention Services UDIS (Advocacy, Counseling, School advocacy, Tutoring, Job search, Leisure activities) 9. Placement Stabilization (Crisis intervention, Counseling, Foster parent counseling, In-home stabilization & monitoring). 10. Ounce of Prevention/Parents Too Soon Program: This program is for women who are 19 or younger, are pregnant and have no other children or for women who have one child 4 years old or younger and are willing to agree to home visits and group services. Services provided are: guidance, help in developing a relationship with the child; knowledge about child development, support group for sharing concerns regarding the pregnancy and parenting, positive parenting skills, referral to other community agencies. 11. Good Beginnings: This program is available to girls who are 20 or younger and pregnant, girls who are 20 or younger and have a baby younger than 3, fathers of infants under 3, fathers of an unborn child of a girl under 20 or parents of children who fit the above mentioned criteria. Services offered are: * referrals to social service agencies * transportation to help meet the mother and baby's needs (WIC, AFDC, doctors appointments) * Weekly support group to discuss and share experiences and concerns * CPR training and information on child development, parenting skills and pregnancy and parenthood * Individual counseling * Family counseling to help with crises and to help develop positive family relationships * Home visits as needed * Help with arranging child care so you can return to school or work * Prenatal classes 12. JTP/GRADS (Getting resistant adolescents to drop-back in successfully): Job training and work experience for teens, including tutoring, classroom preparation for employment, assessment, counseling and advocacy. Teens must be economically disadvantaged, two years or more below grade level in academic achievement. 13. Parent Education Classes: Parent education courses for parents of young children, systematic training in effective parenting; parenting with teens; managing children with ADD/ADHD; managing aggressive and deficient children; strengthening step families. 14. Home Intervention Programs (Replacement of care-taker in home in emergency, Parenting training, Monitor parent/child visits, Home management skills, Locate resources for income, medical care, etc.) 15. Day Care Center (6:00 AM-9:30 PM for children ages 6 weeks-11 years): Day and evening care, supervised pre-school readiness, nutrition, physical and social skills development. 16. Attachment Disorder assessments 17. Specialized Counseling: Counseling for victims and families involved in child and/or sexual abuse; for pregnant teenagers and teen parents; and for juvenile offenders. 18. Residential Care: Short term care for teens unable to remain at home. Application Procedures and Eligibility Criteria: DCFS Cases: Complete a CCS Child Abuse/Neglect or Sexual Abuse program referral form, release of information form and attach the current DCFS 497 form. Send all documents to the Clinical Director. The Comprehensive Youth Services are for adolescents out of control of parents, endangering self or others, refusing to go home. First priority are to adolescents referred by police or DCFS. Second priority are adolescents referred by others. The General Clinic services and Crisis Hotline are for children and their families who voluntarily request services. The child must be the presenting problem. Mental health problem is present. These services are not appropriate for Child Abuse or Sexual Abuse situations. Volunteers are needed in many areas at the Center. Call 446-1300 for information.
