THE SALVATION ARMY CORPS COMMUNITY CENTER: A variety of activities, music, worship, recreation and family programs. Open every day to every age and every interest. FAMILY SERVICES and ASSISTANCE: Food, clothing, medical prescriptions, furniture, rent and mortgage assistance (when funding available), utility assistance (when funding available), coats for kids, counseling, disaster services, back to school program, personal hygiene items. Disaster service available 24 hours. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS: Program for children and adults. A variety of opportunities are offered: discovering potentials, developing lives, social, emotional, physical and spiritual areas, Ladies Home League, Men's Fellowship, Sunbeams, Girl Guards, Christian Fellowship, and Craft group (small fee). CHRISTMAS: Food, toys, warm clothing and gifts. A CENTER FOR THE COMMUNITY: Any outside community group can use the Army's facilities for its meetings or events. COMMUNITY CARE MINISTRY: Friendly visitor volunteers to nursing home residents, hospital patients, prison inmates, elderly/handicapped shut-ins, a listening ear, an entertaining program, a helping hand. No personal costs. A NATIONAL NETWORK: Drug/alcohol rehabilitation, missing persons, foster homes, emergency and spouse abuse shelters, service units in rural areas, armed force services, residences for seniors, single women and families. THRIFT STORE: Second hand clothing, shoes, furniture, household items. Monday-Saturday 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. No charge to those in need. Sales support local needy families. CASEWORK PROGRAMS: REGULAR WELFARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: * Medication - limited * Clothing orders * Furniture orders (on availability, no appliances) * Miscellaneous WARM NEIGHBORS BILL PAYMENT PROGRAM: * Up to 200% of poverty level * Runs between January and May while funds last * Help with payment on utility bills when higher than usual RENT (FEMA) PROGRAM: * Runs between January and September while funding lasts * First month's rent: Targets individuals/families with an income who are either homeless or about to be homeless. Individual must be transient and plan to stay in area or moving from a shelter * Eviction: Must be a primary resident and responsible for the rent. Payment must guarantee an additional 30 days. FOOD *Crisis-oriented one to three day emergency help until the person can utilize the Danville Area Food Pantry. PRESCRIPTION PROGRAM: *Provides medication assistance at least once every 6 months. Payments are made to the providers out working with other churches happens when costs are higher than we can do. LODGING (FEMA) * Emergency help for individuals/families who have no place to stay and can't get into shelter * Based on need of time (From one night to seven days) FRONT DOOR PROGRAM The Front Door Program is a Department of Human Services funded program to help people reach a goal of self-sufficiency. If a person has started working and is receiving assistance with medical and Food Stamps, but does not receive cash assistance, they maybe eligible for the program. The purpose of the Front Door Program is to assist newly-employed clients, help them pay for expenses incurred at the initial stages of employment, such as uniforms, car repairs, car insurance premiums, etc. A person would need to be referred by their Department of Human Services caseworker and bring in documentation needed to determine eligibility.
